Police Activity Prompts Lockout At NY High School (Developing) A Dutchess County high school was placed on lockout Monday afternoon, Sept. 15, due to nearby police activity, officials said. At around 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Wappingers Central School District Superintendent Dwight Bonk announced that John Jay High School in East Fishkill went into lockout status after law enforcement notified administrators of an ongoing police matter near Interstate 84.  Bonk said the measure was taken “as a safety precaution.” He added that the safety of students and staff was not impacted. Bear Mountain Bridge Reopens After Closure From Police Activity (Developing) Both directions of the Bear Mountain Bridge over the Hudson River have reopened to traffic after closing on Wednesday afternoon due to police activity. The closure began just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, according to traffic data from 511NY. All lanes in both directions were closed. As of 3 p.m., they have reopened. According to New York State Police, a person in crisis had been threatening to jump off the bridge. However, they were eventually safely taken to Westchester Medical Center.  This continues to be a developing story. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Police Investigation Shuts Down Road In Warwick, Restricts Traffic (Developing) Heavy police activity on an Orange County street on Thursday, April 24 has prompted traffic restrictions as investigators carry out an ongoing operation, police said. According to the Town of Warwick Police Department, officers are working alongside the New York State Police on Little York Road as part of an active investigation. Update: Drunk Man Apprehended While Trying To Break Into Hudson Valley Home, Police Say This story has been updated.  A 38-year-old man was apprehended after allegedly trying to break into a home in a residential neighborhood in the Hudson Valley, police said.  The incident happened in Putnam County on Thursday, July 11 around 2:20 p.m., when a domestic disturbance was reported at a home on Orchard Road in the Lake Secor neighborhood of Carmel, according to Carmel Police Lt.
