Galina Smirnova, 95, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 16, and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of 89-year-old Nina Kravtsov, an NYPD spokesperson told Daily Voice. Alert Issued For Man Missing For Week From NY Police in Westchester are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing elderly man who suffers from dementia. Raul Ruiz, 82, has been missing since Friday, July 18, the Yonkers Police Department said in an announcement on Friday, July 25.  He was last seen wearing a black jacket, green shirt, black pants, and brown shoes. He is around 5 feet tall and walks with a cane. Woman With Dementia Saved From Roof In NY Firefighters raced to a building in Dutchess County to come to the aid of a woman with dementia who was found on its roof.  The incident happened on Wednesday evening, July 23, at a building on Union Avenue in Poughkeepsie, according to the city's fire department.  The department's G3 Truck 3 arrived at the scene and firefighters used the bucket to bring the elderly woman down to the street to be taken to a nearby emergency room.  More information about how the woman ended up there was not immediately available.

Rise In Dementia Cases Linked To One Of Americans' Favorite Foods, New Study Says A rise in dementia cases could be linked to Americans' appetite for one of its favorite foods.  Findings suggest that rising dementia cases in the US may be linked to a preference for meats.  A study in Neurology by researchers from Mass General Brigham and Harvard indicates that diets high in processed red meats — like bacon, hot dogs, and sausage — were associated with a 13 percent increased risk of developing dementia.
