A lucky New York woman is officially set for life—or at least a very comfortable early retirement. Schoharie County resident Jessica Terpenning, of Cobleskill, claimed the top prize in the Set For Life scratch-off game, scoring $5,000 a week for life. Rather than collecting the cash over time, she opted for the lump sum payout, walking away with a cool $3,367,702 after required withholdings, according to the New York Lottery. School Employee Had 'Inappropriate' Conversations With Students At NY Campus: Cops
A school employee was placed on leave after allegedly having inappropriate conversations with students at a campus in upstate New York, police said. Schoharie County resident Paul Hallock, 65, of Cobleskill, was arrested Thursday, April 10, following a New York State Police investigation into alleged misconduct at William H. Golding Middle School. An investigation found that Hallock, who works as a lunch monitor at the school, engaged in inappropriate conversations with multiple students between October 2024 and February of this year, according to police. Fatal Crash: 22-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Region
A 22-year-old was killed in a two-vehicle crash in the region. It happened around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, in Schoharie County in the town of Seward. An electric bicycle being operated by Mackenzie T. Bamberger of Cobleskill entered the intersection from Hill Road. It was then struck by a vehicle northbound on State Route 10, according to New York State Police. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and called for emergency services.
