Truck Swerves To Avoid Animal, Ends Up On Its Side On Route 9G In Hudson Valley A man walked away without injuries after his truck struck a telephone pole and rolled over in Dutchess County when he swerved to avoid an animal.  The crash happened in Red Hook at around 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, on Route 9G near Peach Tree Court, the Red Hook Police Department said on Sunday, Nov. 30. According to the department, a 2022 GMC dual-wheel pickup was heading north when the driver swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. Basement Blaze Prompts Search For Residents, Investigation In NY Fire crews rushed to an overnight basement fire at a Dutchess County home that prompted a police investigation. The blaze happened in Poughkeepsie at 19 Glen Dr. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at around 2 a.m., according to the New Hamburg Fire District.  Crews arrived within five minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the basement.
