The fire broke out in Mount Vernon on North Macquesten Parkway around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, according to the Mount Vernon Police Department. A police officer was injured when a driver tried to flee a Westchester traffic stop and pinned his leg between two vehicles, authorities said. Several residents were saved from the rear of a burning Northern Westchester residence after officers braved flames and a downed live wire to rescue them. The blaze happened in Ossining on Tuesday night, Aug. 6, when a residence on Maurice Avenue went up in flames, according to Ossining Police.
