Widespread Bank Of America Outages Being Reported
Many Bank of America customers are reporting issues accessing their accounts. First reports of the problems began just before 1 pm. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, with about 20,000 customers sharing outages on the website Downdetector.com. Some said they were stunned to see zero balances on their accounts. Others said they could not see their account balances. Issues with online and mobile systems, and ATM services are being reported. A suspect is behind bars in connection with the knife-point kidnapping and robbery of three victims on Long Island. The incident began in East Hampton as the three male victims were parked in a car along Springs Fireplace Road near West Drive at around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. East Hampton Police said a man approached the vehicle and held a knife to the throat of one passenger and demanded money. The latest heist happened in Bay Shore, at the TD Bank branch located on Montauk Highway, at around 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on Long Island. The incident happened in Central Islip, at the Bank of America on Wheeler Road, at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. Suffolk County Police said a man demanded cash and threatened violence while displaying what appeared to be a gun in his waistband. The teller complied and the suspect fled on foot with cash. Police Recover $49K Taken From Bay Shore Resident In Scam
Police recovered nearly $50,000 that was taken from a Long Island man in a scam earlier this week. An 89-year-old Melville resident called a number he found on the Internet on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at approximately 1:30 p.m. to help him with a computer password problem. The person on the phone convinced him that his bank accounts had been hacked and that he needed to remove his money from the bank, according to Suffolk County Police.
