A New Jersey high school track coach and his wife have been identified as the two people killed when their SUV crashed into a home and caught fire Saturday, Jan. 17.
Clearview High School track coach Thomas "Tom" Hengel, 72, was behind the wheel of a 2020 Hyundai Palisade, with his wife Lisa Hengel, 61, in the passenger seat, when the vehicle accelerated, struck a curb, crossed two front yards, and crashed into the side of a home on Banff Drive with enough force to go through the wall and into the home’s living room around 6:15 p.m., local police said.

Tragedy has struck yet again for a New Jersey synagogue targeted in a 2012 firebombing.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, a blaze ripped through Rabbi Yitzchok Lerman and his wife, Bina's, Montross Avenue home and synagogue in Rutherford, where they've been since 2014.

Jennifer Troch, 41, and Michael Shores Jr., 54, both of the first block of North Main Street, were pronounced dead at WellSpan York Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 3—Shores Jr. at 7:12 a.m., Troch at 7:30 a.m., Coroner Pam Gay said in separate releases. Nine people died in a late-night fire at an assisted living facility in Massachusetts, fire officials said.
The fire broke out around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Gabriel House on Oliver Street in Fall River, according to Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon, Police Chief Kelly Furtado, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine, and Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III.
