The incident happened on Monday, Jan. 27, around 3 p.m., when City of Newburgh Police responded to a report of gunfire in the area of 175 Robinson Ave (Route 9W).  Officers arrived to find the teen suffering from a gunshot wound to his groin. Girl, 14, Critical After Newburgh Shooting: Police A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the City of Newburgh on Friday night, Dec. 20, police said. Officers from the City of Newburgh Police Department responded to a report of gunfire near 119 South Street at approximately 8:30 p.m., the department said. The incident occurred at 60 Gove St. in the City of Newburgh at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 12. According to Mike Neppl, chief of staff for the City of Newburgh, the seat of the fire was located in the basement of the home, with fire traveling in the heating system ductwork to the upper floors. Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on Tuesday, Aug. 27, that Orange County resident James Rich, age 36, of Newburgh, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing a man with a broomstick.  Rich was convicted in June by a jury of all charges, including murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
