A former NYPD officer is facing a felony manslaughter charge in connection with a fatal crash on Interstate 87 in Orange County that left a motorcyclist dead, officials said.
Kevin Richmond, age 43, of Highland Mills in Orange County, was arraigned Tuesday, June 17, in Newburgh City Court on a charge of second-degree vehicular manslaughter in connection with the July 2023 crash, which happened in Cornwall, the New York Attorney General’s Office announced on Tuesday.

A Dutchess County village was shaken after two robberies were allegedly committed within minutes of each other by the same Ulster County man, police said.
The incidents unfolded on Wednesday, May 21 around 7:20 a.m., when troopers responded to a reported robbery in the parking lot of the Stewart’s Shop located at 7558 North Broadway in the Village of Red Hook, New York State Police announced.

A New York man is accused of assaulting a staff member at a Pennsylvania nursing home, police announced on Saturday, May 3.
Kerry Binns, 69, of New York, NY, allegedly punched a certified nursing assistant in the arm while visiting a relative at Ephrata Manor Nursing Home on Bethany Road around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, according to Ephrata Police.
The next morning, on Tuesday, April 29 at 10:31 a.m., staff reported the incident to authorities. A warrant was issued for Binns, who later turned himself in after police contacted him, the department said.

A 34-year-old unlicensed driver has been arrested in connection with a crash that left a 37-year-old woman dead along an Ulster County roadway last week, authorities said.
Alex B. Brown, 34, of New Paltz, was behind the wheel of a 2008 Subaru Forester when he ran over Victoria Cooper in Rosendale on Jan. 16 around 8:20 p.m., New York State Police said.
Cooper entered the roadway when she was struck by a 2013 Toyota on State Route 32, and came to rest in the southbound lane where she was run over by Brown, police said. The initial driver remained at the scene, but Brown did not, police said.…

An Albany man has been arrested in connection with a collision on I-90 in Canajoharie that killed a 61-year-old Rome resident earlier this month, State Police said.
Jose M. Prieto Cole, 24, was taken into custody on Jan. 9, following an investigation into the Jan. 4 incident that left David Bonaparte, 61, dead, police said.
According to State Police, Bonaparte’s vehicle had experienced a mechanical brake issue, causing him to stop on the shoulder of the roadway. He exited the vehicle and was struck by a westbound car driven by Prieto Cole.

A man from the region has been charged with two counts of burglary for allegedly breaking into the same business twice and stealing property.
The incidents occurred in Sullivan County at the Taam Eden Baker at Mountain Square Mall in Monticello on Tuesday, Aug. 27, and Thursday, Aug. 29.
According to Monticello Police Lt. Mark Johnstone, Ishmiel Agapito, age 24, of Monticello, was charged on Monday, Sept. 2, following an investigation.
