A massive operation targeting fake license plates, stolen vehicles, firearms, narcotics, and organized criminal activity led to dozens of seizures, six arrests, and more than 200 tickets across Sullivan County, police announced.
The operation, dubbed “Operation Plate Check 2026,” took place Thursday, May 7, and involved State Police alongside the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty Police Department, Monticello Police Department, Fallsburg Police Department, and the New York State DMV Field Investigations Division, New York State Police announced on Wednesday, May 13.

Two New York men have been arrested on child porn charges, including one man accused of falsely reporting a crime, police said Tuesday, May 12.
Shawn Edwards, 32, was arrested Friday, May 8 at his home in Grahamsville, New York State Police said.
Cops began investigating Edwards in October 2025 following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, authorities said. That led to the search warrant, in which investigators found he’d promoted a sexual performance by a child and disseminated sexually explicit materials to a minor, according to state police.

A Hudson Valley man who Connecticut prosecutors say used Snapchat and TikTok to manipulate teenage girls into sexual abuse schemes has been sentenced to 50 years in federal prison.
James Pagliaro, 27, of Middletown, New York, was sentenced Thursday, May 8, in federal court in Bridgeport, Connecticut, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

Police investigating an assault at a Bergen County home found a loaded handgun, suspected crack cocaine, and additional drugs inside a New York suspect's vehicle, authorities said.
