Fatal Crash: Man From Region Veers Off Road, Hits Utility Pole, Rolls Vehicle A man from the region was killed in a single-vehicle crash after his SUV veered off the roadway, hit a pole, and rolled over. The incident occurred in Sullivan County at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, in the Village of Monticello on Route 17B across from the Monticello Raceway. According to Lt. Mark Johnstone of the Monticello Police, witnesses saw an older man driving a 2012 Ford Escape westbound when it suddenly veered across the eastbound lanes.  Johnstone said the vehicle had struck a utility pole and an embankment before rolling over. Crash Destroys FedEx Tractor-Trailer On Busy Roadway In Region A driver managed to escape severe injuries during a crash of a FedEx tractor-trailer. The crash took place in Sullivan County in the town of Thompson on Route 17 around 7 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 30. According to the Rock Hill Fire Department, the driver was able to exit the vehicle on his own and was immediately transported to the hospital by Mobile medic EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. The department was assisted by: New York State Police,  State Department of Transportation,  Mobile medic EMS,  Rock Hill EMS Prestige Towing.
