A new system arriving in the area Tuesday night could produce a similar sight early Wednesday.
Precipitation is expected to start as rain after nightfall arrives Tuesday.
While points south of I-287 should not see any snow accumulation through Wednesday morning, there could be 1-2 inches of accumulation in points north.
In Northern Westchester, Northern Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess, rain should change to a mix of snow and rain after 8 p.m.
Accumulations will range from a half inch to as much as 2 inches in those areas overnight into Wednesday morning. (See projected totals in image above.)
After a chance of showers through late Wednesday morning, the temperature will climb to a high in the mid 40s under mostly cloudy skies.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Orange County where as much as three inches of snow is possible leading to hazardous travel especially on untreated roads, bridges and overpasses, the National Weather Service said.
