Duo Rescued From Capsized Boat In Westchester Thanks To Observant Train Passenger
Two people were rescued from a capsized vessel in the Hudson River when an observant train passenger spotted them in the water while traveling in Westchester near the new Tappan Zee Bridge. The incident happened on Wednesday, Aug. 16 around 6 p.m. when Irvington Police received a call from a passenger on a Metro-North train who told authorities that a small boat had capsized in the Hudson River. Dehydrated Family Stranded On Cliffs Above Hudson Uses Cellphones To Send Distress Signal
Responders rescued a family of lost, dehydrated hikers stranded in the dark 350 feet above the Hudson River. It was the fourth rescue in just two weeks from cliffs along the Palisades between the George Washington Bridge and the Rockland County border. The original call of a hiker falling more than 40 feet brought Palisades Interstate Parkway Police, along with firefighters from Piermont and Nyack, shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
