Holiday Patrols In Commercial Areas Help Reduced Crime In Orange County Town, Police Say Police in an Orange County town are pointing to increased patrols as the reason for a low number of crimes in the commercial areas during the holiday season. The New Windsor Police Department conducted holiday patrols in the commercial areas of town during the month of December 2020, said Deputy Chief Michael Farbent. Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Old Newburgh Lumberyard A three-alarm fire in Orange County destroyed three building of the old Newburgh lumberyard in addition to damaging two other buildings, according to the Newburgh Fire Department. Fire Chief Terry Ahlers said the department received the first call on the fire at located at Carpenter Avenue and First Street, around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday and the first crews arrived on scene within about two minutes. With heavy winds whipping between the buildings and low water pressure, Ahlers said the fire quickly grew to a two-alarm and then three-alarm as it jumped to adjacent buildings. The water company …
