A man from the region tasked with looking after the finances of another is facing charges after allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from them.
Saratoga County resident Ivan Gerdwagen, age 65, of Saratoga Springs, was arrested Sunday, April 16, following an investigation by New York State Police.
It came days after troopers were first contacted with a complaint that over $260,000 was missing from the victim’s bank account, according to police.

Nor'easter: State Of Emergency Declared For These Hudson Valley Counties
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency in parts of the Hudson Valley as several inches of rain and whipping winds are expected to impact the area.
Hochul issued the declaration late on Monday, Oct. 25, and it is expected to last through early on Wednesday, Oct. 27 as rainfall topping four or more inches are likely incoming, with some areas seeing more than an inch of rain per hour, creating potential flash flooding concerns.
In the Hudson Valley, a state of emergency has been issued for Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Parts Of Region With Strong Winds, Tornadoes Possible
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now been issued for parts of the region.
It lasts until 11 p.m. Monday, June 21, and covers Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Greene, Albany, Columbia, Delaware, Otsego, Rensselaer, and Schenectady counties in New York, Litchfield County in Connecticut, and Berkshire County in Massachusetts.
Torrential rainfall is possible during storm activity. Large hail of 1 inch in diameter or greater, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado or two are the main threats, said the National Weather Service, which issued the watch.

Covid-19: Here's The Latest Number Of Positive Cases In NYC, All State Counties
There have been newly confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in 55 New York counties as the statewide total climbed to 159,937.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at his daily COVID-19 press briefing on Thursday, April 9 that there have been 10,621 new cases of the virus, which resulted in 7,067 deaths.
Approximately 18,000 New Yorkers are still hospitalized with COVID-19.
Though the number of cases continues to rise, and the death toll has risen to new highs, Cuomo said that social distancing has been working to help “flatten the curve,” and people being hospitalized for the virus…
