New Update On Timing, Impact Of Storm System That Will Sweep Through Area
The first day of December will look and feel like just that on Saturday with wet roadways from rain and light snow Friday and temperatures just below freezing through the early morning resulting in areas of black ice. Motorists are urged to use extra caution with any icy spots on the road surfaces, especially untreated surfaces, the National Weather Service said in a Special Weather Statement issued just before 8 a.m. Saturday. Small Business Saturday will mark the start of a dramatic change in the weather pattern. The stretch of unseasonably cold weather will end -- and just in the nick of time -- as a storm system arrives in the afternoon. Clouds will roll in during the morning Saturday and the temperature will rise into the low- to mid-40s before rainfall arrives after 2 p.m. and continue through the overnight. A large storm will that sweep through the area overnight Monday into Tuesday will bring up to 2 inches of rainfall to this area and as much as a half-foot of snow in parts of upstate New York and New England. Precipitation will be rain for most of the region, but some area farthest north could see a mix of snow and rain. Sunny and pleasant weather during the day Monday will be followed by a large storm will that sweep through the area overnight Monday through Tuesday, bringing up to two inches of rainfall. Flash Flood Watch: Rainfall Could Total Up To 2 Inches For Region
A new round of rain and wind will sweep through the area Friday into the early hours of Saturday morning with up to 2 inches of rainfall possible. A Flash Flood Watch will be in effect from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday.
