19: You Can Get Virus Just By Talking, New Study Says
The simple act of speaking, especially loudly, can help spread novel coronavirus (COVID-19), according to a new study. The study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America found that speech droplets generated by those asymptomatic for COVID-19 are “increasingly considered to be a likely mode of disease transmission.” The study found that “loud speech can emit thousands of oral fluid droplets per second.” In a closed, stagnant air environment, those droplets remained active for between eight and 14 minutes. “Speech can release thousands…
