Following Rockland County's state of emergency in the wake of the state's worst measles outbreak since 2000, several free measles clinics are being held including one in Pomona on Wednesday, March 27. During the clinic, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Rockland County Health Department will be offering non-immune residents one dose of measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine at no cost. A quick-thinking CVS store clerk saved an elderly woman from being ripped off for more than $3,000 after realizing she was probably being scammed. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, when the Clarkstown Police Department responded to the New City CVS about a possible scam, said Clarkstown Police Det. Peter Walker. Number Of Rockland Measles Cases Increases As Bill Is Introduced Regarding Vaccines
As state legislatures work on a bill that would do away with the state's "religious belief" exemption regarding vaccinations, the number of measles cases in Rockland County has risen to 130 since the outbreak began in October. Rockland County Welcomes 127 New Citizens
It was an exciting day for 127 people as they were sworn in as "official" United States citizens during a ceremony at the Fire Training Center in Pomona. The group took the Oath of Office on Friday as it was administered by Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato during a naturalization ceremony. "Congratulations my fellow Americans and welcome to our great country," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. Suspect On Loose After Chase Bank Robbery In Pomona Shopping Center
Ramapo Police are working jointly with the FBI to investigate a robbery at the Chase Bank in Pomona. The incident took place Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24 around 5 p.m., at the bank located in the Pacesetter Shopping Center on Route 202. Ramapo police are not releasing any information except to say the center is open and businesses are accessible except the Chase Bank. The Chase ATM is available, police said. The suspect fled the area. No injuries were reported.

Number Of Confirmed Measles Cases Rises Again In Rockland
The number of confirmed cases of measles in Rockland County has grown again to a total of 118 cases, up two cases from last week. The Rockland County Department of Health said there also another five suspected cases of measles they are currently monitoring. The outbreak began with visitors to and from Israel in September where more than 2,600 people have reportedly been affected. Since then the number had continued to grow weekly as unvaccinated or under-vaccinated children and adults were exposed, the department said.
