The collision occurred in Orange County around 9:50 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, at East Main Street and Orange Street in Port Jervis. Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden stated that a Deerpark Police officer tried to stop a motorcycle traveling southbound on Route 209 near the Port Jervis City line. The incident took place in Ulster County around 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Mobil Station on Route 209 in the town of Wawarsing. Members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office stopped the driver at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 on Route 209 in Wawarsing for an expired vehicle inspection. During that traffic stop, it was determined that the driver “was not able to safely continue driving,” and she contacted a friend to pick her up at the scene to bring her home safely. Shortly after the flooding began around 2 p.m. Friday, the DOT, along with the New York State Police closed Route 209 in Westbrookville due to the ice jam and flooding.
