Westchester native Richard Roundtree, who was known for portraying John Shaft in the popular "Shaft" film series and broke ground as one of the first Black action heroes, has died after a battle with cancer.
Roundtree, who was born in New Rochelle in 1942, died on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 24 at the age of 81 after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to numerous reports.

New Update: Police ID 20-Year-Old Victim Of Westchester Crash
Police have identified the 20-year-old Westchester man who was killed in a violent crash that left his passenger in critical condition.
The crash took place around 11:40 p.m., Monday, July 3 at 1420 West Boston Post Road (Route 1) in the town of Mamaroneck.
The driver who was killed was Anthony Diosdado, a resident of New Rochelle.
The front-seat passenger, Andy Romeo Fuentes, age 18, also of New Rochelle, remains in critical condition at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, said Capt. James Maher, of the Town of Mamaroneck Police.
