In an effort to bolster the number of New Yorkers who are getting the COVID-19 vaccination, new temporary pop-up sites are being set up at MTA stations across the state. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday, May 10 that eight new pop-up COVID-19 vaccination sites will be set up in New York City, Long Island, and Hudson Valley, serving up to 300 walk-in appointments per day. A host of COVID-19 restrictions in New York are set to be rescinded as part of a massive tri-state effort as the country continues to recover from the pandemic. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that beginning on Wednesday, May 19, most pandemic-related capacity restrictions will be lifted in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut after being forced to shut down more than a year ago. Man Who Rammed Vehicle In Westchester Had 'Kill List,' DOJ Says
A Westchester County man with a kill list of prominent people in his vehicle and who told cops he was "Jesus Christ," has been charged in federal court for ramming an MTA vehicle, according to a complaint filed by the United States Department of Justice. Nicholas Skulstad, of Dobbs Ferry, was charged with the destruction of a motor vehicle on Thursday, April 22, for the Monday, April 5 crash. The incident began in Ossining when Skulstad honked at the MTA SUV and rammed it from behind, according to the criminal complaint. Metro-North Service Suspended As Snow Becomes Heavier During Nor'easter
Metro-North trains will be temporarily suspending service as the rate of snowfall during the Nor'easter has become heavier, creating potential travel hazards. MTA officials announced that with major snow accumulation and high winds creating increasingly hazardous travel conditions, Metro-North will shut down service with the last trains departing Grand Central Terminal at approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1. MTA Worker From Hudson Valley Suspended For Allegedly Calling In Sick To Attend Capitol Riots
A Metro-North worker who lives and works in the Hudson Valley who allegedly called in sick to be part of the pro-Trump riots at the United States Capitol has been suspended. The worker, Dutchess County resident Will Pepe, age 31, of Beacon, works as a laborer at Metro-North’s rail yard in Putnam County, in Brewster, as first reported by the New York Post. Person Struck, Killed By Metro-North Train
A person was killed after being struck by a Metro-North train overnight. The incident happened in Westchester County shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, just south of the Port Chester station, near the Kohl's Shopping Center. After trains were initially held at the scene, New Haven Line customers experienced delays of 45 to 50 minutes, according to Metro-North. 19: Here's How Much MTA Riders Can Now Be Fined For Not Wearing Face Coverings
Mask up, or pay up. Riders using public transportation in New York will now face fines if they fail to adhere to the state’s mandate of wearing a face covering. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the MTA will be issuing $50 fines to anyone who fails to wear a facemask on New York City subways and buses, Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road cars. The gusty winds, falling trees, and wild weather brought to the region by Tropical Storm Isaias has forced Metro-North to suspend service due to the hazardous conditions.
