Area Man Convicted Of DWI By Jury
A Hudson Valley man has been convicted of DWI and traffic offenses after turning off his headlights while driving to avoid being seen by police.
Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced that Allan Jones, age 27, of Warwick, was convicted by a jury on Monday, Jan. 31.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that on Monday, Dec. 27, in the Town of Warwick, Jones drove a vehicle in a reckless fashion while turning off his headlights in an effort to avoid detection by the police.

Drunk Woman With Child In Car Crashes Into Utility Pole In Northern Westchester, Police Say
A local woman has been arrested for alleged drunk driving with her 12-year-old child in the back seat in Northern Westchester.
The Putnam County resident Jennifer MacDonald, age 43, of Mahopac, was nabbed by Yorktown Police when officers were called to a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, Aug. 28, on East Main Street in Jefferson Valley.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered MacDonald's car slammed into a utility pole, police said.
After an investigation, police determined MacDonald was intoxicated and had her 12-year-old child in the rear seat.

Westchester Man Drove Drunk With Two Young Daughters In Vehicle, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk under Leandra's Law for having his two young daughters in the vehicle at the time he was stopped, State Police said.
On Saturday, July 24, just before 5:00 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87, in Orange County in the town of Newburgh, when the driver committed a vehicle and traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle, Richard A. Sarno, age 43, of Yonkers, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with his two daughters, ages 9 and 13, said Trooper Tara McCormick.

A local woman who was arrested for a hit-and-run crash that killed a man outside a lakefront home in the area was arrested two months ago for DWI and was due to have her license suspended in several days.
Maggie DePerna, age 37, of Mahopac was charged on Saturday, June 26, with vehicular manslaughter, and two counts of DWI (she was reportedly driving drunk when arrested) in the hit-and-run death in Mahopac of James Crecco, of Carmel, on Friday, June 25, said the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Man Arrested For DWI, Drugs Following Traffic Stop In Area, State Police Say
A local man was arrested for alleged DWI and possession of cocaine following a traffic stop in the area.
Ulee Johnson, age 41, was arrested on Wednesday, May 26, following the stop in Orange County of his 2004 red Infinity Q56 on East Main Street in Middletown by New York State Police.
During the stop, troopers spotted an open bottle of alcohol and plastic cups containing alcohol, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
During a search of the vehicle following Johnson's arrest for DWI, troopers found 5.7 grams of cocaine, Nevel said.

23-Year-Old Impaired Driver Nabbed With Illegal Handgun After Westchester Stop, Police Say
A 23-year-old man was busted for DWI and for having a handgun following a traffic stop in Westchester.
Zay Williams, age 23, of the Bronx, was arrested around 10:50 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, following a traffic stop on I-287 in Greenburgh, said Trooper Tara McCormick of the New York State Police.
According to McCormick, Williams was arrested after he was stopped for multiple traffic violations and during a search, troopers found a loaded Colt 23-caliber handgun in his pocket.
