Suspect Caught After Hudson Valley Woman Stabbed To Death, Police Say
A suspect has been arrested just a day after a Hudson Valley woman was found stabbed to death in her home.
The homicide took place in Dutchess County in the city of Poughkeepsie around 11:30 p.m., Friday, May 27.
The woman's body was found after police and fire responded to a home at 7 South Grand Ave., for an unresponsive 64-year-old woman, said Det. Sgt. Terrence Beam, of the City of Poughkeepsie Police.
The victim, identified as Nina Robinson, who had been stabbed, was beyond saving and was pronounced dead at the scene, Beam said.

Hudson Valley Man Charged With Stealing $165K In Investment Scam, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing more than $165,000 from investors while working for an investment company.
Dutchess County resident Todd Sims, age 49, of LaGrange, was arrested on Tuesday, March 29, by New York State Police in collaboration with the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
An investigation determined Sims stole more than $165,000 using an investment company business under the name of Horizon Holdings NY, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

Officer Found Guilty Of Killing His Ex-Wife In Area
A former correction officer in the area has been convicted for the stabbing death of his ex-wife.
Timothy Alexander, age 35, of Poughkeepsie, was found guilty by a jury of the murder of his ex-wife, Terrie DeGelormo, in the town of Wappinger on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, said Kristine Whelan, assistant district attorney of the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office.
Alexander, who was president of the Sheriff's Employee Association at the time and worked with Dutchess County Sheriff's office, stabbed Alexander multiple times and then fled the scene, authorities said.

Property Manager Accused Of Stealing $480,000 From Community In Area
A property manager has been accused of stealing nearly half a million dollars from a co-op community in the area.
In June of 2020, State Police in Dutchess County received a complaint from a Hyde Park co-op community alleging that their property manager, operating under JDWAH, Inc., had been stealing from them since 2015.
With the assistance of the State Police Financial Crimes Unit, an audit revealed that 51-year-old Joy C. Funk, of Poughkeepsie, stole over $480,000 from the community prior to her termination in May of 2020, state police said.
