Two New York college students who were heading home for Thanksgiving were killed in a fiery crash that left a third person with life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews in Columbia County were called at around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, with reports of a serious crash on State Route 9H in the town Ghent, near the Columbia County Airport. 14-Year-Old Stabbed Over 'Ongoing issue' Between Teens In Region, Police Say
A 14-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight with another teen over an "ongoing issue," authorities said. The attack took place in Columbia County around 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 17 in the city of Hudson. Officers responded to the Hudson Terrace Apartments on Front Street for a reported stabbing via 911, said City of Hudson Chief of Police L. Edward Moore. Child Celebrating Halloween Hit By Car Near Diner In Hudson Valley
An area child who was out celebrating Halloween was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 31, when the 4-year-old child was crossing a busy roadway near the Plaza Diner in the Town of Greenport with his mother. According to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, as two crossed Fairview Avenue, the child was struck by a northbound vehicle. The vehicle did not stop and continued northbound, police said. Teen Accused Of Firing Shots Into Area Homes
An 18-year-old from the area was arrested by New York State Police following a pair of reports of shots fired that entered area homes, authorities announced. Missing Alligator On The Loose In Hudson Valley Found
A missing 6-foot alligator named Kobe had deputies on the hunt for a few days, but luckily the slippery, bug-eyed guy was found in a neighbor's yard. Kobe was reported missing on Saturday, May 25, by Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett on Facebook.
