Man Wins $3 Million New York Lottery Scratch-Off Prize
A New York man has claimed a $3 million lottery prize.
George Nichols Jr., of the city of Elmira in Chemung County, claimed a top prize from the lottery's X Series: 50X scratch-off game, New York Lottery announced on Wednesday, May 18.
He received his prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $1,640,370 after required withholdings, NY Lottery said.
The ticket was purchased at Quick Stop Beverage & Grocery, which is located at 900 Broadway in Elmira, the lottery said.

Four New York communities, with two in Westchester County, made a list of the country's 10 safest small towns, compiled using rates of violent and property crime, compiled by Safewise.
The town of Lewisboro in Northern Westchester, which has a population of 12,823, had no reported instances of violent or property crime in 2019, and placed first nationwide.
In all 10 communities on average, .13 people per 1000 people are victims of violent crime, compared to the national average of 3.7 people per 1000.

Covid-19: Here's The Latest Number Of Positive Cases In NYC, All State Counties
There have been newly confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in 55 New York counties as the statewide total climbed to 159,937.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at his daily COVID-19 press briefing on Thursday, April 9 that there have been 10,621 new cases of the virus, which resulted in 7,067 deaths.
Approximately 18,000 New Yorkers are still hospitalized with COVID-19.
