A father and daughter from the region have been charged with allegedly assaulting viscously attacking another person.
The incident took place in Sullivan County around 10:20 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9 in the town of Mamakating.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel, state police from the Wurtsboro barracks responded to a residence on Hamilton Road in the town of Mamakating for a report of an assault.

A Westchester man has pleaded guilty to committing a violent hate crime against a 67-year-old Asian woman who was entering her home.
District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that Yonkers resident Tammel Esco, age 42, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, to committing a violent hate crime on Friday, March 11 against the woman who was entering her apartment building.
According to court documents, Esco cursed at the victim, punched her around 125 times in and around her head, repeatedly stomped on her upper body, and spit on her.

Long Island’s David Cruz, age 31, of Medford, was indicted for first-degree manslaughter Thursday, Sept. 22, in Suffolk County in the death of Jake Scott, of Centereach.
Cruz was working as a bouncer at Tailgaters Bar in Holbrook on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, when he got into an argument with Scott shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Suffolk County DA’s Office.

A Hudson Valley grandmother has been sentenced to prison for seriously assaulting her 7-month-old granddaughter leaving her blind and with brain damage.
Orange County resident Kimberly Bennett, age 46, of Middletown, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and five years post-release supervision on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
