A beloved educator and coach from Northern Westchester known for making a lasting impression on his students has died. Joseph Troy of Somers died on Thursday, Nov. 3 at the age of 83, according to his obituary. Born in 1939 in New York City, Troy graduated from St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Barrytown in 1957 and earned his bachelor's degree in Biology at Catholic University in 1962 as well as his master’s degree in Education and Doctoral Studies from New York University, his obituary said. A new Hudson Valley high school is being forced to hit the brakes on reopening and transition to complete remote learning after there were new positive tests for COVID-19. Albertus Magnus High School, located in Rockland County in Bardonia, which planned a hybrid reopening this week, was forced to employ virtual learning when classes kicked off for the new academic year on Thursday, Sept. 10 due to two new confirmed cases of the virus. Dominican Sister Of Sparkill, 81, Cited After Crashing Car Into NJ House
An 81-year-old member of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill received a careless driving summons after a ministry-owned car she was driving ripped a hole in the side of a Bergen County home on Christmas morning. Sister Margaret McPartland of Bardonia mistakenly put the car into reverse instead of drive, sending it careening across a Franklin Lakes street, over a lawn and through an attached garage of the single-family house, borough police Capt. Student, Driver Injured In Route 304 School Bus Crash
One student and a school bus driver were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Rockland. The crash occurred around 7:44 a.m. Nov. 26 on Route 304 and Washington Avenue in Pearl River, police said. Orangetown police officials said officers were still on the scene and little information was available. The students were on their way to Albertus Magnus High School in Bardonia when the crash occurred with another vehicle. The injuries are said to be non-life threatening. This is a developing story.
