Twenty-nine students who want to pursue careers in CAD or 3D participated in the free program June 27 to July 1, each received a certificate of achievement at the presentation, a release said.
Powered by an AT&T contribution, the program provides hands-on research opportunities designed to build students’ STEM skills through projects that utlilize 3D technology.
There is a growing need for people educated in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields, along with many rewarding and well-paying professional career paths.
AT&T’s support for this program is part of the company’s legacy of supporting educational programs focused on STEM disciplines in New York through AT&T Aspire, according to a release.
Area students were selected based on their school grades, their application essays, and teacher recommendations.
In addition to the hands-on 3D and design experience, the program provides training in research techniques, critical thinking skills, working collaboratively, and increased awareness of educational and job opportunities in STEM fields.
Several local businesses that utilize 3D technology participated in the program to illustrate manufacturing applications for these technologies.
RCC offers STEM degrees in Engineering, Math, Science, CAD and Computers; a rigorous M/TS Honors program; and several paths that allow high school students to earn college credits including Early Admit and other High School Programs.
