Woman Killed In Route 9W Rollover Crash In Tomkins Cove

A 70-year-old Bergen County woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on 9W in Tomkins Cove after driving off the roadway, according to the Stony Point Police.

Officers responded to the crash around 1 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a car off the roadway, said Lt. Daniel Hylas.

Once on scene, officers found Eileen Blackwell, of Tenafly, inside her vehicle which for an unknown reason drove off the road, struck a rock embankment and partially overturned, Hylas said.

Blackwell was rushed to Nyack Hospital with serious injuries where she later died, he added. A cause of death has not been determined. 

There were no other passengers.

Hylas said during the crash the road condition was clear and dry. 

Stony Point Police was assisted at the scene by the Stony Point Fire Dept, the Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team, Rockland County BCI and the RCME office.
