Stony Point Woman Helped Boyfriend In Rob-Stab, Police Say

STONY POINT, N.Y. -- A Stony Point woman was charged Monday with tampering with evidence in a robbery-stabbing incident Thursday in which the suspect escaped, police said.

Saray Gonzales, 23, was charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence in connection with the event involving Ereidis Pena who is on the run after robbing and stabbing another man, said Lt. Keith Williams.

According to Williams, Gonzales was seen in the vicinity of where the crime occurred and is alleged to have been looking for Pena's phone, Wiliams said.

Gonzales is Pena's girlfriend and she is believed to have been helping him, he added.

She is currently being held at the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. 

Police are still on the hunt for Pena, 24, of Stony Point, who is described as a heavyset Hispanic man in his 20s who was wearing all dark clothing with long braided hair at the time of the crime, police said.
