Stamford police said the woman showed up at police headquarters, with large red marks around her throat, a little before midnight Sunday saying her ex-boyfriend had just strangled her and smashed her phone, the newspaper reported.
The woman identified her attacker as William Oliver, 45, a 10-year veteran of the Clarkstown Police Department, said the Stamford Advocate.
Oliver turned himself in to police Monday and was charged with two counts each of second-degree burglary, strangulation and threatening, and single counts of unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and interfering with an emergency call, the story said. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond, said the Stamford Advocate.
