Elvis Ortiz, of Garnerville, was charged with DWI and DWI refusal after police found him asleep near the Farley School on Route 210 in his vehicle with the engine running around 6:30 a.m. earlier this month, said Lt. Daniel Hylas.

Ortiz was found when officers on patrol noticed a car at the exit road from the school. When they stopped, they found the engine running and in neutral. Officers reached in and turned off the ignition at which time Ortiz woke up, Hylas said.

He was processed and released on an appearance ticket and is due in Stony Point Justice court on Sept. 26.
