Man Caught Driving With Fake License Plate In Stony Point

STONY POINT, N.Y. -- Stony Point police nailed a Newburgh man for driving with a fake license plate and a suspended license during a traffic stop on Saturday, Dec. 31, according to the Stony Point Police Department.

Fernando Mato, 49, was busted after he was stopped for a routine traffic violation and officers found that the Indiana "dealer" tag on his vehicle was a fake and he was driving on a suspended New York driver's license, police said.

Mato was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and aggravated unlicensed operation. 

He was released on $2,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
