Seven of the 11 people killed in pedestrian accidents were between 64 and 86 years old, according to the report.

Yet, pedestrians are twice as likely to get killed along roadways in Westchester County than in Rockland, according to a three-year survey of federal traffic fatalities.

Pedestrian fatality totals were much lower in Putnam and Dutchess counties, and much higher in New York City and Long Island, according to the study released this week by a non-profit advocacy group.

The Tri-State Transportation Campaign's findings for 2012 through 2014 included these local accidents:

  • An 86-year-old woman was killed on Nov. 9, 2013, on South Liberty Drive (US 9W) in West Haverstraw.
  • A 76-year-old male was killed on Oak Tree Lane in West Haverstraw (?) on March 4, 2012.
  • A 74-year-old male was killed on Grant Avenue in Congers on Feb. 27, 2012.
  • A 33-year-old male was killed on North Main Street (County Road 45) in Hillcrest on June 3, 2013.
  • A 76-year-old male was killed on Monsey Boulevard in Monsey on July 16, 2014.
  • A 78-year-old male was killed on July 16, 2014, on North Madison Avenue in Monsey.
  • A 36-year-old male was killed on Sept. 10, 2014, on Columbus Avenue in Monsey.
  • A 64-year-old female was killed on New Clarkstown Road (County Road 36A) on Dec. 4, 2014.
  • A 1-year-old girl was killed on Sept. 19, 2014, on Beckett Court in Chestnut Ridge.
  • A 34-year-old female was killed on Feb. 13, 2012, on State Route 59 in West Nyack.
  • And a 79-year-old male was killed on April 8, 2014, on Middletown Road near Blauvelt.

Predictably, pedestrians are more likely to get killed crossing busy streets in New York City or Long Island, according to the survey.
