The Cancun Inn, a longtime restaurant in the artsy hamlet of Sugar Loaf, started getting profanity-laced phone calls after it asked a couple to leave for, it said, being rowdy and rude to its staff, News 12 reported.
The two patrons told News 12 they were ousted because one of them was wearing a pro-Trump baseball hat and button.
Pictures of the businessman and Bedford resident wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat and anti-Hillary Clinton material were posted on the restaurant's reviews on Yelp.com.
In a message posted on its Facebook page, the restaurant thanked its friends, family and supporters for their “uplifting messages and positive phone calls” following the incident.
“Your support has shined like a beacon of light through a harrowing storm of animosity and aggression,” the message read.
“Some, perhaps, forget that we are in fact one human race. Yes; we come from different cultures but we all inhabit this pale blue dot we call home,” the restaurant added.
Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns TrumpTower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
