X-Planations: Rockland's Peter X. Kelly Praises Fellow Restaurateur

PIERMONT, N.Y. -- This past week I had the great pleasure of dining at the Moderne Barn in Armonk. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holiday season and was buzzing with extremely happy diners, including my own family. However, what makes Moderne Barn so special is the hospitality of the Livanos family.

I have been fortunate enough to have known the Livanos since their first restaurant in White Plains back in 1985. John Livanos and his wife along with their three children Nick, Billy and Corinne, have been welcoming guests and serving a very discriminating clientele for more than three decades. Their group of restaurants includes three locations in Manhattan including the world class Oceana in Midtown, City Limits in Stamford, Conn., City Limits in White Plains and the aforementioned Moderne Barn.

The family has set a very high bar for all other restaurants to emulate. The Moderne Barn offers a stunning setting, a superlative wine selection, and gracious service. The food, under the direction of Executive Chef Ethan Kostbar, has few equals in the county.

The restaurant business is about hospitality and nowhere is it better experienced than at one of the Livanos' family restaurants.

To them, I say thank you for making the past 30 years so delicious.
