PIERMONT, N.Y. -- This past Monday, I had the honor of hosting the kick-off of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week 2016 (HVRW) at my restaurant X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers.
More than 300 guests, including many of the preeminent chefs, farmers, distillers, brewers, winemakers and artisan food makers of the Valley were in attendance. The event was also notable for the commitment of our political representatives who were there and spoke of the importance of the agriculture and hospitality industries to the economies of our counties throughout the Hudson Valley.
County Executives’ Rob Astorino of Westchester, Ed Day of Rockland and Mary Ellen Odell of Putnam all took to the microphone to encourage residents to visit restaurants in their respective counties during HVRW. It was a pleasure to have Mike Spano, the Mayor of Yonkers, welcome guests at the event to experience the pleasures of dining in Yonkers, what I consider “The Gateway to the Hudson Valley”.
As a restaurateur operating in the Hudson Valley for more than three decades, the support of our local and state government has allowed the area to grow to become the dining destination of the Northeast. World renown chefs like, Jean-Georges Vongeriecten, Michael White, Dan Barber and Mario Batali have joined home grown Hudson Valley chefs like Dave Dibari, Eric Gabrynowicz and David Martinez to make the Hudson Valley a dining mecca for a very discerning clientele.
The restaurants of the Hudson Valley in all their diversity of cuisine and ambiance make living here all the much nicer.
Make a reservation!! The event runs March 7 to March 20. Go HERE for a list of participating restaurants.
