The meeting location will be provided with a confirmed reservation. Space is limited, and pre-paid reservations are required. The tour will cost $39 per person or $35 for HSRC members. This includes the guided walk and a luncheon.
Join George Leahy for a walk through one of the Rockland County's most historic towns. Leahy's roots in Haverstraw go back to the mid-1800s, when his Irish ancestors settled there. Now retired, Leahy taught history at Nanuet High School for thirty-five years and for the past ten years was an adjunct professor of history at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
After the walk, guests will enjoy a delicious three-course luncheon at Union Restaurant. The year 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the Town of Haverstraw.
This "Walk through History" will be a lengthy walking tour, with elevation changes that should be considered before booking.
