In the segment, the two are shown demonstrating the method at the 120-year old store.

"I want them [the candy canes] to look as good as they can possibly be," said Bertrand in the Zagat clip. She explained how, unlike store bought candy canes, their labor-intensive method starts with two separate pieces of colored sugar, heated, stretched and woven together.

"I want them to taste good. I want to make sure that you get a good, peppermint flavor, that's nice and sweet, has a nice consistency," added Loucas in the same report.

Loucas has owned the store with Bertrand who he came to know 10 years ago when their kids met at the bus stop. She started working at the candy store on Valentine's Day 10 years ago, as reported in Daily Voice.

Lucas Candies is at 6 Main St., (845) 947-1220, www.lucascandies.com/.
