Taconic Crackdown: Over 100 Commercial Drivers Ticketed For Using Parkway
Police said they issued over 150 tickets during a crackdown on the Taconic State Parkway, with the vast majority going to commercial drivers who were illegally using the parkway.
The enforcement detail was conducted on Monday, July 27, and Tuesday, July 28, along the Taconic State Parkway, New York State Police announced on Saturday, Aug. 1.
During the operation, troopers issued 158 traffic tickets, including 114 citations for violations of parkway regulations that prohibit commercial vehicles from operating on New York's parkway system, the agency said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the chest and buttocks in Dutchess County over the weekend, prompting an ongoing police investigation.
The shooting happened in Poughkeepsie just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, in the area of Montgomery Street and South Hamilton Street, according to the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

A 15-year-old suspect is in custody after a violent Westchester County shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead and four teenagers seriously wounded.
The shooting happened in Yonkers at around 8:43 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, in the area of Elm Street and Palisade Avenue, according to the Yonkers Police Department.
