Dryer Sparks Blaze At Golf Course Clubhouse In Hudson Valley
Firefighters raced to a golf course clubhouse in Northern Westchester after a dryer fire filled the building with smoke. The incident happened in Croton-on-Hudson on Monday, Nov. 4 just before 8:45 a.m., when a blaze began inside a dryer at the Hudson National Golf Course's clubhouse, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. $26.3 Million Road Project Begins In Hudson Valley
Work has started on a section of Hudson Valley roadway to upgrade drainage systems, fortify stone, resurface the road, and more. According to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, the $26.3 million project begins Monday, Oct. 21, and will occur in Orange County along a 4.9-mile stretch of Route 9W atop Storm King Mountain in Cornwall and Highlands. Car Engulfed In Flames On Taconic Parkway
A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely. The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page. No injuries were reported.

Honda is recalling nearly two million vehicles due to steering issues that could potentially lead to crashes. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 1,693,199 vehicles are subject to a nationwide recall due to a manufacturing issue that could make it more difficult to steer the vehicles. A Hudson Valley bridge has reopened to traffic following replacement of the old structure. The Dutchess County Department of Public Works announced that the replacement of a bridge on Ridge Road in the town of Dover had been completed, and the structure had been opened to traffic. Work on the bridge began in the Spring and included replacing the structure, located over the Mill River near the intersection of Cooperstown Road, with a new, wider bridge that includes three-foot shoulders and slightly straightening the surrounding roadway to improve motorists' safety. A shark sighting kept swimmers out of the water at three New York beaches. The sighting was reported on Long Island at Nickerson Beach in Nassau County. A teenage girl was severely injured after jumping out of the back door of an Omni bus following a flat tire. The incident occurred in Orange County around 7:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, on I-84 in Middletown.
