Grateful Dead's Founding Member Played Some Of His Last Shows In Hudson Valley Before Death Before his death at the age of 84, longtime Grateful Dead bassist and founding member Phil Lesh played some of the last concerts of his life at a theater in Westchester.  Lesh, who died on Friday, Oct. 25, played bass with the iconic rock band for three decades up to their disbandment in 1995.
