Hudson Valley Man Nabbed With Loaded Gun Following Chase, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was nabbed with a loaded semi-automatic ghost gun after a chase with police. The incident occurred in Orange County on Wednesday, July 24, around 11 p.m. in the area of Third Street and City Terrace in the city of Newburgh. According to Newburgh Chief of Staff Mike Neppl, detectives from the department's Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force were patrolling the area, which has experienced a rash of narcotics complaints and shooting incidents. A 33-year-old Hudson Valley man is behind bars after allegedly taking New York State Police on a pursuit, ending in a crash with damage to a police car. Dutchess County resident Christopher Melvin, age 33, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested in Orange County on Tuesday, June 11, in the town of Newburgh after crashing into a police vehicle.
