A Long Island man is accused in a string of bank robberies dating back years. Nassau County Police arrested Joseph Dumpson, age 32, of Farmingville, early Wednesday, Nov. 27, in connection with three bank robberies that occurred in Nassau County in 2020. Three people were seriously injured in a fiery crash on Long Island. The crash occurred at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, when a 2017 Kia Sportage veered off Cliff Road in the village of Belle Terre, struck a tree, and caught fire, according to Suffolk County Police said. A man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a crash left his passenger seriously injured on Long Island. Francisco Fernandesdosreis, of Farmingville, was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee northbound when the vehicle struck two parked cars and overturned in front of 111 College Road in Selden around 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, according to Suffolk County Police. A local man has been accused of burglarizing nearly a dozen Long Island businesses this month. Health officials on Long Island are urging people to take precautions after testing of mosquitoes confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus. Twelve mosquito samples were positive for the virus following testing done at locations around Suffolk County, according to county Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott. A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash overnight on Long Island. It happened around 10:15 p.m. Sunday, May 26, in Shirley. Suffolk County Police said the man was driving a 2015 Infiniti Q50 southbound on William Floyd Parkway, just north of Robinwood Drive, when he lost control of the car.
