Child Found Inside Drunk Suffolk Woman’s Car That Smashed Into Pole: Police
A drunk woman crashed her car into a pole with a child inside on Long Island, police said.
Shannon Priest, 36, of Water Mill, collided with a pole at the intersection of Flying Point Road and Seven Ponds Road in Water Mill around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Southampton Town Police Department said.
Cops responded to the scene and located a child under age 16 in the vehicle, authorities said.

A Tesla driver was high when he seriously injured a motorcyclist in a crash on Long Island, police said.
Bertie Simeon, 37, was traveling southbound on Nicolls Road through Holbrook around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Simeon, of Huntington Station, struck the 24-year-old motorcycle rider between Greenbelt Parkway and Route 27, police said. Both drivers were traveling in the same direction, investigators said.

PTA Money Gone Missing: Suffolk Woman Admits $14K Theft From School Group, Authorities Say
A Long Island PTA leader admitted to stealing more than $14,000 from the organization, authorities said Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Hope Livingston, 50, of Sag Harbor, copped to swiping $14,487 from the Sag Harbor Elementary School PTA, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said. She is expected to receive a sentence of five years on probation at her next court appearance on Oct. 6.
Livingston worked as co-treasurer and then vice president of the organization from July 2021 through June 2024, giving her access to a PTA bank account and debit card, investigators said.

Seeing Double: Boozed-Up Suffolk Woman Accidentally Steals Similar Car, Cops Say
A drunk Long Island woman accidentally stole a car that looked just like hers when she stumbled out of a bar, police said.
Cops said Ariel Salgado, 35, walked out of a Patchogue bar on Saturday, Aug. 1 and stepped into a gray 2020 Mazda CX-5, the New York Post reported.
Investigators said Salgado, of East Patchogue, drove a gray CX-5 — but not this one, according to News 12 Long Island. The actual owner had left the keys in the car and parked near Salgado’s car, the Suffolk County Sheriff's office said.
