Suffolk Man Killed In One-Car Crash Into Fence, Hedge: Authorities
A Long Island man was killed in a single-car crash on a two-lane road late Wednesday, Aug. 19, police said.
Matthew Adcock, 54, of Huntington, was driving a 2016 Ford Edge northbound on Dix Hills Road just south of Hren Court around 11:25 p.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Adcock’s vehicle left the road, crashed into a fence, and hit a hedge before coming to a stop, police said. Investigators believe Adcock suffered a medical episode, triggering the wreck, authorities said.

E-Scooter Rider Killed In Car Crash On Long Island, Police Say
A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed in a crash on an electric scooter on Wednesday night, Aug. 19, police said.
David Anthony De Jesus, of Roslyn, was traveling westbound near Dosoris Way and Elliot Place in Glen Cove around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, the Nassau County Police Department said.
De Jesus collided with a 2023 Jeep Wrangler being driven by a 19-year-old woman, investigators said.
Following the crash, De Jesus was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. No other injuries were reported in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.

A Queens man has been arrested more than a year after nearly half a million dollars in checks mailed by a Long Island company were intercepted, police announced on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Raymond Nagaloo, 31, of Queens, was arrested following an investigation by the department's Electronics Squad/Fraud & Forgery Section, Nassau County Police said.
The investigation began after a Woodbury company mailed two checks totaling more than $495,000 that were intercepted by an unknown person on Monday, June 23, 2025, according to detectives.
