Binghamton Firefighter, Father John Gaudet Killed In Fire A firefighter and father of three who was killed battling a blaze in upstate New York is being remembered for his dedication to the community. Binghamton Fire Department member John “JR” Gaudet, 40, was gravely injured when a wall collapsed during a firefight on the city’s Main Street on Wednesday night, Feb. 12, the agency confirmed. The 11-year veteran of the department later died at Wilson Hospital. Two other firefighters were hospitalized and listed in stable condition. Tragic Accident Leaves Boy, 12, Dead, Girl, 11, Critical In Capital Region A 12-year-old boy was killed, and an 11-year-old girl is in critical condition after falling through the ice on a Capital Region lake. The incident occurred in Albany around 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Washington Park Lake near the park's lake house. According to Albany Police, police and firefighters located and rescued the girl.
