Poughkeepsie Man Sentenced To 20 Years To Life For Kidnapping Pregnant Woman, Children
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office announced that Derrick Woodhouse, age 50, of Poughkeepsie, has been sentenced to 20 years to life for kidnapping and 2 to 4 years for attempted robbery following his conviction by a Dutchess County jury.
The charges stem from a harrowing incident on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2023, when Woodhouse abducted a pregnant woman and two minor children at knifepoint in the City of Poughkeepsie.

High-Speed Tesla Crash Kills New City Man, 28, Changing Lanes On I-87: Nysp
A tragic early morning crash on I-87 southbound in Clarkstown claimed the life of a 28-year-old New City man, New York State Police reported.
Justin Drinks was speeding in a 2022 Tesla when he tried to change lanes around 1:20 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, near exit 12, NYSP Trooper Jennifer Alvarez said.
The vehicle struck the end of a guide rail, overturned multiple times, and ultimately collided with a utility pole.Drinks, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was extricated by emergency responders but was pronounced dead at the scene, Alvarez said.

Man Charged With Fatal Shooting Of 20-Year-Old Pleasant Valley Resident
Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi announced that Thomas Case, age 53, has been charged with murder in the second degree in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man.
Case, a Pleasant Valley resident, was arraigned on Monday, Jan. 13, for the Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, shooting death of Anthony Cuozzo in Pleasant Valley, said Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi.
He was also arraigned on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities allege that Case intentionally killed Cuozzo by shooting him multiple times with a semi-automatic pistol.

Mail Thief Nabbed After High-Speed Escape in Stony Point: Police
An 18-year-old man was nabbed by police for allegedly stealing mail that contained personal financial information out of residential mailboxes with two accomplices.
Lt. Daniel Schoales of the Stony Point Police said Mahamadou Sissoko, of the Bronx, was charged on Thursday, Jan. 8, for the crimes committed on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, in Tompkins Cove.
According to Schoales, Sissoko and the two accomplices were seen stealing mail. Police arrived as the trio attempted to flee in a vehicle driven by Sissoko.
