A drunken Danbury woman is facing charges after police stopped her for speeding over the weekend in Wilton, authorities said. Leticia Duarte Goncalves was behind the wheel of a black Tesla Model Y heading north on Danbury Road near Old Mill Road at a high rate of speed when police stopped her around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, Wilton police said. A Fairfield County woman is facing charges after police say she was driving under the influence on a major roadway. The incident occurred in Wilton on Saturday, Nov. 23, when police stopped a 2023 Land Rover Defender 110 traveling north on Danbury Road (Route 7) just after 3 a.m. Officers reported the vehicle was speeding and having difficulty staying in its lane. An SUV plowed into the front of a Hudson Valley home after being in a crash with a school bus. The incident occurred in Rockland County on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Laurel Road and Glenside Drive in New City. According to the Clarkstown Police, the SUV struck a Clarkstown Central School District bus while turning left onto Laurel Road. Police To Target Aggressive Drivers In This Hudson Valley Town
As aggressive drivers flood the roadways, a town in the region will increase traffic enforcement to address the issue. The patrols will occur in Dutchess County in the town of Poughkeepsie in the coming weeks. According to the town of Poughkeepsie Police, officers will actively monitor for violations such as speeding, unsafe lane changes, passing red lights, and other dangerous driving behaviors.
