DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Light freezing rain is moving through parts of the Hudson Valley early Monday afternoon and there could be a brief period of a wintry mix from Poughkeepsie to Albany, the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement.

Temperatures will gradually rise above the freezing mark in the mid to late afternoon, especially in the Hudson River Valley corridor from the Capital District south.

Motorists should be prepared to encounter locally slippery travel conditions Monday afternoon as the freezing rain moves in. Motorists should reduce speeds and leave greater distances between vehicles on the roadways, the National Weather Service said.

The icing threat is expected to gradually end from south to north Monday afternoon into Monday evening as temperatures slowly rise above freezing to a high of around 40.

With temperatures rising into the mid-40s Monday night, rain is expected. It could last through late morning Tuesday.

Overnight lows Tuesday night into Wednesday will fall to just below freezing.

Wednesday will be a mostly sunny day with a high around 40.

The current outlook calls for a chance of snow before noon Thursday, followed by rain in the afternoon.
